Local Area Agencies
on Aging:
Senior
Community Service
Employment Program (SCSEP)
Individuals age
55 and older are
assigned to useful
part-time community
service positions
with public and
private non-profit
agencies such as
social service
agencies, public
housing facilities,
senior centers,
public schools,
etc. One of the
goals of SCSEP is
for the participant
to obtain an
unsubsidized job
through the
experience obtained
from the community
service assignment.
Participants usually
work an average of
20 hours a week for
which they are paid
the federal minimum
wage. For

Plus Job
Bank-Brokerage
System
Some AAAs provide job brokerage services by assisting individuals age eligible, but not necessarily income eligible, for SCSEP. Individuals are matched with appropriate full or part-time jobs through the AAA's employment brokerage system. AAAs that do not provide brokerage services directly refer older job seekers to the local CareerLink Center.
You must be age 55 or older to receive these employment services.
